Tungkol sa Edmon Adesas:

I am a professional teacher.

I teach English for grade 9 in one of the public school.

I am a Filipino English teacher with a humble beginning that keeps me grounded every step of the way. I would like to cite my reasons and share my journey and how passionate I am as a teacher.

My first reason comes from a variety of opportunities that I was able to indulge in during my previous experiences as an English teacher. In my first year in public school, I got the chance to participate in civic activities, such as tree planting and operation clean-up drives among many others, and I am grateful because I was given the opportunity to give back to the community. This volunteer work which I had participated in, eventually led me to be an English Club adviser in our school. I was able to organize events that would make our English Month celebration more exciting, interactive, and engaging. I was able to come up with events loved by the English language learners and teachers because I made learning the English language not just a lesson but a meaningful experience, an experience that learners would relate to that I wish to apply in my lessons in the organization that I wish to work with in the future. Furthermore, this school program becomes not just an annual event but a cultural event they look forward to. Through this, I was given the chance to be a Grade Level Coordinator, a task that demands and challenges my grit, decision-making skills, patience, and leadership skills. I organize things before the school year starts and ends, such as students’ designations teachers’ advisory classes, to organizing school events such as convocation, recognition, and graduation rites that usually challenge my creativity, rapport, and ability to work under pressure. Because of this, I developed a sense of understanding, a great level of commitment, and a strong and lasting professional relationship in the workforce and in the community as well which would be very useful in my journey as an English Language Teacher. 

My second reason for having a strong desire to express my interest is because of my love for the English language. I would love to impart so many things that I have acquired in my life as a teacher, not just how to use and apply the English language in spoken and written communication but to develop cultural and international understanding through the integration of international values in every lesson that I wish to have in the future as an English Language Teacher. In my former class, I was able to create numerous tasks with international values integrated which gave me a full grasp that in teaching the English language, it is best if the learners are given a particular experience relevant because shared values are something universal to humans. In my teaching, I came to realize that for the desired outcome to be meaningful and evident, lessons need to be integrated into a real-life situation where real language application takes place.

 My third reason comes from my desire to continue my education. Throughout my life as an educator and as a learner, I have been living independently and I am confident that I have acquired life skills that will help me throughout this journey. I also wish to use the skills that I have acquired in the pursuit of my further study of the English language and to continually share with my community by creating community linkages that promote Tolerance and understanding of other Cultures to the Filipino youth using my skills to assure that cultural awareness will remain to uphold towards international sensitivity and understanding because I believe this a very important skill, making the 21st-century global learners a problem solver global citizen.
