Juge Kyle Jayme Tagle is a director and playwright who completed a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts at the University of the Philippines-Diliman, majoring in Directing and Dramaturgy. Their creative practice centers on stories that are grounded often in themes of queerness and social justice.
Among their recent directorial works are Gladiolas by Peter Solis Nery—a queer narrative—and Ang Mga Naiwan by Soc Delos Reyes—adapted as a one-woman show that tackles the emotional aftermath of extrajudicial killings which were both produced under UP Dulaang Laboratoryo. As a playwright, Tagle has written Change is Scamming and Bawal Magkasakit, which are full-length pieces that both critique systemic neglect. In addition, they have also contributed to the marketing work in institutions like Tanghalang Pilipino and Dulaang UP.
Tagle has directed and written short films such as Ang Huling Mercury Retrograde–coming of age, Saglit–a commentary of the country’s transportation system, and New Beijing— a documentary on the influx of foreign presence in Parañaque’. And beyond the theatre, Tagle has worked with Miss Universe Philippines, Jojo Bragais, Pride PH, and currently serves as a staff member of Babaylanes, Inc.—actively championing queer rights and gender equality.
