Tungkol sa Roma Christa Belle Reyes:

My name is Roma. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga, on April 6, 2015. Happily, I graduated on the Dean's and President's lists during my third and fourth years at the university. I also passed the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) in the same year. Additionally, I have had both local and international teaching experiences. 

After graduation, I was hired as a Preparatory teacher at Peniel Mission Foundation Inc., Christian Academy in Pampanga, Philippines, for the school year 2015-2016. I was excited because I could finally apply all the knowledge, skills, and experiences I gained from my university. I was full of confidence at that time. However, that experience made me realize that the world inside a university and the real world of teaching are entirely different. I had to rapidly adjust in order to become an effective teacher. Fortunately, things went well in the end, and most of my pupils experienced tremendous growth and were prepared for their primary-level education. 

I had the privilege of being the pioneer teacher in the nursery at Saint Paul American School in Clark, Philippines, for the school years 2016-2018. It was certainly a challenge due to the diversity among my pupils, and it was my first time handling toddlers while using the American curriculum. Honestly speaking, my experience and knowledge in handling toddlers were limited at that time, and it was unfair for my pupils to have a subpar experience with me. I told myself that searching through the internet and seeking advice from my colleagues was not sufficient. That is the main reason why I enrolled at Bulacan State University for my master's degree, majoring in Teaching Early Grades K-2, in 2017. 

The most significant opportunity in my teaching career occurred when I had the chance to work at Athena Kindergarten in Beijing, China, during the 2019-2020 academic year as an English teacher using the Montessori Curriculum. We handled students ranging from two and a half to six years old, all in one classroom. Working in China was both exciting and challenging. I had to make many adjustments, especially in dealing with my colleagues. I am used to working with different nationalities, but it was my first time working in an institution without Filipinos. Unfortunately, things became unpredictable when the pandemic occurred, and I had to return to the Philippines. As a result, I entered the world of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) since most schools were not in good shape either. However, I did not stop teaching. I continued teaching ESL online as a part-time job since teaching is ingrained in my system. 

Currently, I am teaching at Noblesse International School in the Philippines. It is a certified International Baccalaureate school, and I have obtained my certificate as an IB teacher. As an IB teacher, I can teach any subject while incorporating them into one another. 

"To teach is to touch a life forever." This quote perfectly encapsulates the life of an educator. Educators guide, prepare, and inspire children to become successful individuals in the future. I have faith that I would be a good choice to teach in Taiwan. Being flexible, persevering, and passionate are my most powerful tools in this profession. My goal is to always make my students happy while they learn. I want them to love school and create great memories that they will carry with them into the future. 

Furthermore, my strong communication and collaboration skills enable me to build positive relationships with students, parents, and fellow educators. I am dedicated to fostering open lines of communication and working closely with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational environment. I am also adept at tailoring my instruction to meet students' individual needs, providing differentiated support to help each student reach their full potential. 

I had the chance to visit Taiwan, and I can say that I fell in love with this country at first sight. I love the environment, food, and especially the people. It felt like home to me. My goal is to experience more cultures and educational systems to further my professional growth. With this in mind, my plan is to gather all the methodologies, techniques, and curricula that, in my opinion, are effective for students and build my own school. I know it might take years to accomplish this goal, but with great motivation, I can do anything.
