    Our client — a fast‑growing fintech building large‑scale, high‑traffic systems — is expanding their backend engineering organisation and looking for exceptional engineers to join the team. You'll be working under a highly capable Head of Engineering – Backend, driving modern architecture, engineering excellence, and impactful product delivery.

    The Role

    You'll join one of several backend engineering teams responsible for designing, building, and scaling mission‑critical services. Depending on your level (Intermediate, Senior, or Principal), you'll contribute through hands‑on development, technical leadership, architectural decision‑making, and mentoring.

    This is a fully remote role with a global engineering culture.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Core Responsibilities

    • Build and maintain large‑scale distributed backend systems.
    • Contribute to technical design, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
    • Work with modern backend practices: microservices, cloud infrastructure, event‑driven systems.
    • Collaborate closely with product, QA, mobile, and cross‑functional engineering teams.
    • Ensure high standards in reliability, observability, performance, and security.
    • Participate in agile delivery, project planning, and continuous improvement.

    For Senior & Principal Levels

    • Lead technical initiatives and influence architectural direction.
    • Mentor engineers and elevate engineering standards across teams.
    • Drive best practices in system design, scalability, and operational excellence.
    • Partner with the Head of Engineering to shape engineering culture and long‑term technical strategy.

    What We're Looking For

    Essential Experience

    • Strong backend engineering background (Go and/or Java preferred).
    • Experience building high‑traffic, distributed, or event‑driven systems.
    • Solid understanding of SQL, caching strategies, and message queues.
    • Hands‑on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or similar).
    • Comfortable working in agile environments with modern DevOps practices.
