A Medical Content Specialistis expected to:
Research and identify Medicare, Medicaid, and other content sources to identify claim denial criteria (clinical content); The clinical content could include additions or updates to diagnosis codes, procedure codes, age minimums & maximum, quantity limitations, place of service limitations and other clinical content criteria
Provide content research and presentation to Medical Directors and colleagues for decision making support
Update content sources and reports within clinical database
Document updates for entry into database
Support special content projects as needed
What it takes to be part of our team:
Ability to learn and retain details about the United States healthcare system and claims processing, in relationship to health insurance, medical coding, medical billing, medical policies and claims submission
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in reading complex subject material
Ability to perform analysis and research, after appropriate training
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing or verbal communications
Proficient in Microsoft software including Excel, and Word
Ability to be self-directed daily, with elevated level of integrity and to successfully manage multiple priorities with deliverables completed on time and with high quality
Ability to present verbally and in writing in large group settings
Ability to communicate desired learning style
Bachelor of degree from accredited University or United States equivalent is required; Master's degree is preferred.
American Academy of Professional Coders CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or American Health Information Management Associations Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P) certification is a plus but is not required to be hired.
One of the two certifications mentioned above are required within 2 years of the hire dateWhat's in it for you
