    Position Overview

    RecruitGo is seeking a Clinical Data Engineer with Bioinformatics expertise to join our oncology theranostics AI team. This role bridges engineering and biomedical science, enabling the aggregation, structuring, and analysis of multimodal clinical data (PACS, EMR, free-text clinical notes, and molecular data) into a unified research and AI database. 

    The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in data engineering and database management, paired with domain knowledge in bioinformatics/clinical research, allowing them to design pipelines that are not only technically robust but also biologically and clinically relevant.

    Responsibilities: 

  • Design and implement ETL pipelines to ingest data from PACS, EMR systems (USA based EMH's ideally), laboratory information systems, and research databases.
  • Normalize, clean, and standardize multimodal datasets (imaging, genomic, pathology, clinical notes).
  • Build scalable data infrastructure to support AI/ML model training and regulatory-compliant research.
  • Apply bioinformatics methods to structure omics and biomarker data alongside imaging and clinical records.
  • Translate unstructured clinical notes into structured variables (using NLP and biomedical ontologies).
  • Map data to standardized vocabularies and ontologies (e.g., SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, NCI Thesaurus).
  • Ensure clinical relevance of data pipelines for oncology and theranostics research.
  • Partner with clinicians, radiologists, nuclear medicine specialists, and data scientists to align pipelines with research goals.
  • Work closely with AI/ML scientists to prepare high-quality, analysis-ready datasets.
  • Collaborate with compliance and regulatory teams to ensure adherence to HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA/ICH GCP requirements.
  • Develop automated validation checks and QC processes for data integrity.
  • Document data engineering processes and maintain metadata catalogs.
  • Support audit readiness and clinical trial data standards (CDISC/SDTM if applicable).

    Requirements:

  • Bsc or MS or Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering with a focus on healthcare or life sciences.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and one major data pipeline framework (e.g., Airflow, Luigi, Prefect).
  • Experience with clinical data standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM, CDISC).
  • Strong understanding of bioinformatics workflows (genomic data formats like FASTQ, VCF, BAM; pathway and biomarker analysis).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) for healthcare data pipelines.
  • Knowledge of oncology and clinical trial data structures.

  • Experience with NLP for clinical text mining.
  • Familiarity with theranostics workflows (radiopharmaceutical imaging and treatment).
  • Previous work in a clinical research environment (sponsor, CRO, or academic medical center).
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks: HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR.
