    Job Description

    Reporting to the Manager- Asset Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for the leadership of the Maintenance Shutdown Department, playing a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing maintenance shutdown planning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective extraction of gold resources. You will contribute to organisational success by delivering shutdown planning aligned to the strategic direction of the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide leadership and guidance to the shutdown team and all participants during the planning and execution phases.
    • Work with the relevant personnel to develop a consolidated shutdown schedule which includes all operations, maintenance, logistics (parts, people and accommodation) engineering and project tasks.
    • Create, manage, update, and report on shutdown readiness on an ongoing basis.
    • During execution of the shutdown, monitor and manage all elements of the shutdown, including Safety, Environmental, Security, Cost, Schedule, Inspection and Work Quality.
    • Ensure that a process for controlling scope changes is in place. This includes ensuring that any post-cutoff date changes to scope or schedule are approved by the appropriate authority.
    • Initiate, hold, and document progress meetings, including relevant metrics/KPIs, schedules, and gaps.
    • Intervene wherever necessary to prevent and deal with safety, cost, and schedule problems.
    • Complete a post-shutdown evaluation, recommending changes to procedures, standards, practices and ways of working.
    • Safe and effective leadership of a multi-disciplined team including coaching, mentoring and development.
    • Provide visible positive leadership by demonstrating safe behaviors at all times and displaying the Company's values, whilst managing the effective optimization of the plant.
    • Manage expectation setting and performance reviews of team members to ensure a successful pathway is built for the team.
    • Providing support and input into shutdown planning processes to ensure all scheduled tasks are achievable and allow for safe and efficient production.
    • Focus on continuous improvement strategies and implementation to ensure production improvements are delivered.

    Qualifications

    • Be able to secure a company-sponsored work visa
    • Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in Maintenance within the Mining industry.
    • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience leading complex shutdown activities
    • Expertise in work scheduling, planning and execution processes (shutdown, maintenance, operations and capital projects).
    • Building effective teams across functional boundaries
    • Set team performance expectations and drive team accountability
    • Leadership and conflict resolution
    • Relevant Trade or Engineering Qualification essential
    • Proven experience in a leadership role with a passion for coaching and people development
    • Significant experience within Fixed Plant operations and maintenance in the mining industry
    • Develop an inclusive operating culture where employees are valued and empowered to speak up
    • Strong leadership experience with the ability to engage and empower large teams alongside a proven commitment to safety.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
    • Strong understanding of efficiency drivers in a large-scale mining operation
