The role of an Electrical Design Engineer is responsible in designing, developing, and testing electrical systems and components to meet project specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements. The position will also be involved with cost estimation and budgeting of industrial automation projects involving PLC systems, SCADA systems, control panels, and instrumentation. Ensures accurate quantity take-offs, cost control, and technical coordination throughout project execution
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation & Tendering
• Prepare cost estimates and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for automation and control system projects.
• Perform quantity take-offs from technical drawings and specifications.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. (to be assisted by Commercial/Sales Manager and Procurement)
Project Cost Control
• Monitor project costs, budgets, and financial performance. (to be assisted by Commercial/Sales Manager and Procurement)
• Manage variations, change orders, and progress billing.
• Prepare cost reports and support commercial documentation.
Technical Coordination
• Review PLC, SCADA, and instrumentation drawings.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and procurement teams.
• Validate material quantities and installation scope.
Design and Development
• Develop electrical designs, schematics, and layouts using CAD software.
• Create and review technical drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams.
• Design electrical control systems for various applications.
• Conduct feasibility studies, load calculations, and risk assessments.
• Perform testing and validation of electrical systems and components to ensure compliance with industry standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during the development process.
• Ensure designs adhere to relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
