Job DescriptionThe Senior Manager – US Mortgage Processing Leader is responsible for overseeing end-to-end mortgage processing operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, service excellence, and timely loan movement from application through closing.
This role leads a high performing team of processors, drives operational efficiency, manages regulatory adherence, and partners cross functionally with underwriting, origination, closing, and quality teams to deliver best in class borrower experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and manage the mortgage processing team, ensuring timely and accurate loan file movement from application to underwriting and closing.
- Oversee verification of borrower documentation including income, credit, assets, appraisals, and disclosures.
- Ensure full compliance with federal and state mortgage regulations (e.g., TILA, RESPA, Fair Housing, investor guidelines
- Maintain deep knowledge of FNMA, FHA, VA, USDA, and Jumbo product guidelines and mortgage underwriting requirements.
- Build, refine, and manage pipeline workflow processes to meet funding goals, SLAs, cycle times, and quality metrics.
- Collaborate with loan officers, underwriters, closers, and servicing teams to ensure seamless loan progression.
- Implement and enforce quality control processes to minimize errors and ensure audit ready files.
- Drive continuous process improvement, leveraging data insights to enhance processing performance and efficiency.
- Prepare operational reports and performance dashboards for senior leadership.
- Lead training and development programs for processing teams on LOS/AUS systems, investor changes, and regulatory updates.
Experience Requirements
- 12+ years of US mortgage processing or mortgage operations experience, including 4+ years in a leadership/managerial role (Preferred)
- Strong experience overseeing high volume loan pipelines in a fast-paced mortgage environment.
- Proven background in regulatory compliance and investor guidelines (FNMA, FHA, VA, USDA).
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Management, or related field preferred
- Certifications such as Certified Mortgage Processor (CMP) are an added advantage.
- Proficiency with LOS platforms (Encompass, Blend, Calyx, etc.) and AUS systems (DU, LP).
- Strong understanding of mortgage products, disclosures, underwriting requirements, and closing documentation.
- Advanced skills in Excel, data reporting, workflow management tools, and operational dashboards.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder partnership, and customer experience orientation.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose bottlenecks and streamline processes.
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and motivate teams to meet KPIs and compliance standards
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
