    Role description:

    The General Accounting Manager I plays a pivotal role in supervising the day-to-day operations and activities of the team. This role involves providing clear instructions, offering constructive feedback, and evaluating the performance of GSSC team members. By providing more hands-on involvement, the General Accounting Manager I ensures efficient and effective execution of tasks, promotes a positive working environment, and drives the team towards achieving their goals and objectives.

    Role accountabilities:

    Process Delivery

    • Process scope may include the following areas, depending on the assigned function (not exhaustive):
    • Month end close and financial reporting
    • Lease accounting
    • Balance sheet control
    • Treasury accounting
    • Intercompany
    • Supporting internal and external audit
    • Delivery of operational activities and processes to meet deadlines and requirements
    • Conduct review and analysis of financial transactions, processes, and reports to ensure relevant schedules and analysis are available on time
    • Ensure that general ledger processes and procedures are in accordance with global accounting policy and procedures
    • Respond to queries from in-country stakeholders and Business Control Team pertaining to General Accounting issues and propose resolution as necessary
    • Is an expert in completing technical accounting tasks
    • Maintain team adherence to internal control guidelines
    • Monitor service levels and targets, ensuring these are met and services are delivered in accordance to defined Service Level Agreements (SLA) and KPIs
    • Identify, document and mitigate issues or any potential risks in the day-to-day operations and propose solutions.
    • Recommends areas for standardization and process improvement.
    • Review and edit process documentations for clarity, completeness, and compliance with established guidelines
    • Ensure business continuity plan is in place for all critical tasks

    People

    • Direct involvement in monitoring and guiding the work or output of the team
    • Provide hands-on control by providing instructions, feedback, evaluating performance and recommends training for staff learning and development
    • Ensure that the team meets specific goals and adheres to certain standards and company-wide policies
    • Address team conflicts and issues, promoting a positive work environment, mediating conflicts, and finding fair and beneficial resolution
    • Succession planning within the team

    Key shared accountabilities:
    • Support the Global GA Manager II and Global GA Manager – BPE (L9) in ensuring the overall success of a project and/or achieving SLA and KPI targets set for the team.
    • Together with the Global GA Manager II and Global GA Manager - BPE (L9) to attract, cultivate, and retain a team that is exceptionally skilled, high-performing, and driven.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
    • CPA or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline, preferred.
    • At least 6 years of related experience required, preferably in a professional services environment.
    • In-depth financial accounting competence and understanding of IFRS.
    • Strong analytic skills and experience working with Oracle as Arcadis' Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, preferred.
    • Fundamental knowledge in project management, with experience in spearheading small projects and implementing process improvements.
    • Proven ability to build relationship and maintain effective communication with stakeholders and team members.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize work, delegate tasks effectively, and ensure timely completion of projects.
    • Can work on flexible hours to meet changing work environment and to meet tight deadlines.
