SMSF Compliance & Financial Reporting

• Prepare annual SMSF financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards.
  

• Prepare SMSF Income Tax Returns and associated schedules.
  

• Process year-end workpapers and reconciliation of member balances.
  

• Calculate and process pension commencements, minimum pension payments, and ECPI.
  

• Prepare trustee resolutions and minutes.
  

• Process rollovers, contributions, benefit payments and member transactions.
  

Technical & Regulatory

• Ensure compliance with the Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Act (SIS Act) and ATO requirements.
  

• Assist with transfer balance cap reporting (TBAR).
  

• Review trust deeds and investment strategies (as required).
  

• Prepare documentation for limited recourse borrowing arrangements (LRBA) (if applicable).
  

• Liaise with SMSF auditors and respond to audit queries.
  

Software & Systems

• Work with SMSF software such as:
  

  • Class Super
    

  • BGL Simple Fund 360
    

  • SuperMate
    

• Use accounting platforms such as:
  

  • Xero
    

  • MYOB
    

  • QuickBooks
    

• Maintain accurate electronic workpapers and document management systems.
  

Client & Team Communication

• Communicate directly with Australian partners and managers.
  

• Assist with ATO correspondence where required.
  

• Maintain clear, professional written communication in line with Australian standards.
  

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

• Demonstrated experience in SMSF accounting (essential).
  
• Strong background in business services (SME accounting) and individual tax returns (highly regarded).
  
• Proficient in Excel, Xero, XPM, and related accounting software.
  
• Strong knowledge of internal controls, audit support, and compliance requirements.
  
• High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
