- Assists the Chief Officer with cargo work
- Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of navigation and electronic
- Aids to navigation in the bridge
- Keeps the middle and afternoon watch
- Assists in docking/undocking, mooring/unmooring, and anchoring as directed by the Master
- Physically/Medically fit, including good eyesight and hearing
- Graduate of B.S. in Marine Transportation
- At least one (1) year of experience in seagoing service as Third Mate onboard a seagoing ship of 500 GT or more
- Passed the Second Mate licensure examination
