Job description
Ø Conducts pulmonary function tests
Ø Assesses and interpreting evaluations and test results
Ø Determines respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.
Ø Operates mechanical ventilators, nebulizers, etc.
Ø Administers respiratory therapy treatments by performing bronchopulmonary drainage
Ø Assisting with breathing exercises
Ø Monitors physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes
Ø Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress.
Ø Recommends adjustments and modifications
Ø Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers; contributing to patient care conferences
Ø Maintains patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential
Ø Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Ø Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
Ø Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoots malfunctions; calls for repairs
Ø Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
Ø Performs the related duties as the need arises.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ø Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy graduate.
Ø Registered Respiratory Therapist (board passer) is preferred; however, fresh graduates and newly licensed professionals are encouraged to apply.
Ø Demonstrates the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Ø Willing to work on shifting schedules.
