About the role

As a Systems Administrator at Lufthansa Technik Philippines, you'll play a key role in maintaining the backbone of our IT operations. Your responsibility is to ensure that our systems — both on the ground and in the cloud — are stable, secure, and ready to support a 24/7 aviation business. This role is well-suited for someone who values precision, takes ownership, and understands the importance of dependable infrastructure in a fast-paced, high-reliability environment.

What you'll be doing

Systems & Infrastructure Administration

Deploy, configure, and maintain physical, virtual, and cloud-based servers (Windows Server, Linux).
Manage and optimize virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Oracle VM.
Support container-based workloads using Docker or similar technologies.

Cloud Infrastructure Management

Build and maintain cloud environments following Hub-Spoke or Landing Zone architectures (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Ensure secure integration between on-prem and cloud environments (hybrid cloud).

Database Administration

Install, configure, and manage relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
Ensure availability, integrity, and security of databases, including backup and recovery strategies.

Security, Compliance & Hardening

Apply system hardening techniques and enforce patching policies in line with security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, CIS Benchmarks).
Support monitoring tools like Microsoft Sentinel and ensure audit readiness.
Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities and ensure infrastructure compliance.

Monitoring & Performance Tuning

Implement monitoring solutions (e.g., Nagios, Azure Monitor, SolarWinds) to proactively detect issues.
Conduct system capacity planning and performance tuning across servers and databases.

Disaster Recovery & Backup

Design and maintain backup solutions and disaster recovery plans.
Test recovery scenarios regularly to ensure business continuity.

Incident, Problem, and Change Management

Investigate and resolve infrastructure-related incidents using root cause analysis.
Collaborate with IT support and service teams to implement change and problem management per ITIL standards.

Documentation & Collaboration

Maintain up-to-date infrastructure documentation, SOPs, and system architecture diagrams.
Coordinate with Network, Application Support, Security, and vendor teams to ensure seamless IT operations.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in systems and infrastructure administration.
Proficient in both cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) and on-premise systems architecture.
Strong experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and containerized environments.
In-depth knowledge of database administration (SQL Server, Oracle DBMS).
Demonstrated expertise in system hardening, patch management, and security best practices.
Familiarity with ITIL practices including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Availability to work beyond standard business hours as needed (e.g., system upgrades, critical incidents).
