We are seeking a proactive and student-focused Student Support Officer to support learners throughout their training journey. This role is the primary point of contact for students, providing guidance, advocacy, and practical support to help them succeed in their programs.
The position focuses on learner engagement, wellbeing, and retention, while maintaining accurate records and supporting compliance with the Standards for RTOs 2025 (SRTOs). You will work closely with trainers, compliance, and administration teams to ensure students receive high-quality support and a positive learning experience.

Key Responsibilities
1. Learner Support & Engagement
- Serve as the first point of contact for prospective and current learners (phone, email, LMS).
- Provide guidance on enrolment processes, course requirements, assessments, and progression pathways.
- Assist learners with Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) assessments and implement reasonable adjustments where required.
- Monitor learner engagement and progress, identifying at-risk students and providing early support interventions.
- Facilitate onboarding and orientation processes to help learners transition smoothly into their programs.
- Respond to student enquiries in a timely, professional, and supportive manner.
2. Student Wellbeing & Advocacy
- Act as a liaison between students, trainers, and management to resolve concerns or challenges.
- Provide referrals to appropriate support services where required (wellbeing, counselling, disability services, etc.).
- Support initiatives that enhance the student experience, including feedback collection and engagement activities.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
3. Record-Keeping & Compliance Awareness
- Maintain accurate learner records in the LMS, including enrolments, progress, assessments, and support interventions.
- Assist in preparing student-related documentation for internal audits and regulatory reporting.
- Support compliance with SRTOs 2025 standards relating to learner support and assessment documentation.
- Maintain relevant student registers and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
4. Support for Training & Assessment
- Assist students in accessing learning materials and understanding assessment requirements.
- Support validation and moderation activities by gathering relevant student files and records.
- Coordinate enrolments, withdrawals, and progression updates in collaboration with trainers and administration.
5. Continuous Improvement & Communication
- Contribute to the review and improvement of student support policies, processes, and resources.
- Identify trends or recurring student concerns and recommend practical improvements.
- Support clear communication between students, trainers, and the administration team.
6. Administrative Duties
- Provide administrative support to the student services team, including scheduling, reporting, and documentation.
- Assist in coordinating student engagement activities, workshops, and briefings.
- Perform other learner-support and administrative duties as required.
Qualifications & Experience
· Background in education, community services, administration, psychology, or related fields is desirable.
· Previous experience in a student support, education, or vocational training environment is advantageous but not required.
