    General Manager – Residential Aged Care Facility

    Australia

    Full‑Time | On‑Site

    Salary: AUD 10,833 – 13,333 per month

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced and dedicated General Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operational, clinical, and administrative functions of our residential aged care facility. In this role, you will oversee the delivery of high‑quality, resident‑focused care and ensure the facility operates in alignment with organisational objectives, budget parameters, accreditation standards, and compliance requirements.

    This position requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of the aged care sector, and the ability to ensure the highest standards of safety, quality, and resident wellbeing.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Site-Based Management & Compliance

    • Oversee daily operations to ensure exceptional care and support services for residents.
    • Ensure compliance with the Aged Care Act 1997, Quality Standards, organisational policies, and accreditation frameworks.
    • Conduct regular audits, quality reviews, and contribute to accreditation processes
    • Manage resident admissions and liaise effectively with residents and their families.

    Participation & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Collaborate with Executive and Operational Management Teams, clinical professionals, Department of Health, ACAT, and community partners.
    • Participate in strategic planning and organisational meetings.
    • Engage in ongoing professional development and mandatory training.

    Financial & Resource Management

    • Manage budgets, revenue targets, resident profiles, and financial documentation.
    • Ensure expenditure remains within approved budgets and delegated authority levels.
    • Oversee Medicare return submissions and contribute to funding streams and rostering efficiency.

    People Leadership & Culture

    • Lead and mentor staff, conduct performance appraisals, and support employee development.
    • Ensure workforce compliance with policies, legislation, and accreditation standards.
    • Coordinate staffing, rostering, and skill‑mix requirements to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
    • Conduct regular meetings with nursing, service, and catering teams.

    Quality, Safety, and Professional Conduct

    • Promote organisational mission, vision, and values centred on respect, dignity, integrity, and excellence.
    • Uphold high standards of professional conduct and maintain resident confidentiality.
    • Ensure adherence to Workplace Health and Safety standards and contribute to risk management and infection control initiatives.
    • Support continuous quality improvement through reporting, internal assessments, and staff education.

    Qualifications & Experience:

    Essential

    • Bachelor of Nursing (RN) or Diploma of Nursing (EN for eligible Victorian sites).
    • Current AHPRA registration.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in residential aged care.
    • Strong knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards, Aged Care Act, documentation standards, and relevant legislation.
    • Demonstrated clinical competency and contemporary nursing practice.
    • National Police Check (or ability to obtain).

    Desirable

    • Previous nursing management experience.
