Assists in measuring, managing, and monitoring the company's catastrophe risks.
Qualifications:
Scope of Responsibilities:
Catastrophe Exposure Monitoring and Portfolio Modeling
1. Compiles, maintains and regularly updates the company's catastrophe exposure database of its inwards Property and Motor business for all local and foreign reinsurance contracts, treaty and facultative.
2. Assists in the quarterly reporting of the company's current catastrophe exposure and PML
3. Runs and analyzes catastrophe models to determine the company's position in terms of modeled loss estimates
Non-Life Treaty and Facultative Cat Pricing
1. Audits, validates and cleanses data for the purpose of catastrophe modeling and reinsurance pricing
2. Coordinates with underwriters and/or brokers in getting required and relevant data for analysis
3. Communicates data issues, if any, with underwriters, brokers, or clients
4. Conducts catastrophe modeling analysis, as required
5. Performs exposure rating using tools available to Nat Re
6. Calculates cat technical rates and communicate methods on how these were calculated to underwriters and technical reviewers
7. Accomplishes the Cat Modeling and Reinsurance Pricing Report, including proper documentation of the assumptions, methods used and results
8. Monitors actual versus technical rates
Catastrophe Event Response Plan
1. Prepares a Catastrophe Event Report after an identified catastrophe event, for internal and external distribution
2. Provides the company's modeled loss estimate due to the said event
Industry-Related Research
Prepares or assists in any type of research related to catastrophe modeling and management, exposure accumulation, hazard, risk management or latest industry developments and practices affecting the company or the Philippine industry.
Maintenance and Use of Cat Modeling and Pricing Tools
1. Ensures a comprehensive understanding and use of tools available to the company to measure exposure to catastrophe loss and calculate reinsurance technical rates
2. Contributes to the maintenance and optimum use of available cat modeling software (AIR, RMS, Catalytics, Oasis)
3. Proactively participates in all communication between vendors and internal stakeholders on issues relating to the use of catastrophe modeling tools and software, which may include, but not limited to the evaluation model components and outputs, model version change, and latest industry best practices
4. Assists in the evaluation of available catastrophe models
Retrocession Purchase
Assist in the preparation of the company's catastrophe risk exposure (treaty and facultative) as a requirement for creating the retro information pack.
Other company requirement (Rating agency, risk management and IC submissions)
Assists in the preparation of data and analysis necessary to fulfill the requirements of the regulators and rating agencies.
Training and Knowledge Sharing
1. Pursues further training and studies to ensure analytical expertise is strengthened
2. Keep abreast of latest of industry best practices in the field of catastrophe risk management
Team Management
Proactively participates in the process of setting and measuring annual objectives and development plans for self that is in line with management goals.
