Job Title: Payroll Specialist – US & Canada
Job Summary:
We are looking for a meticulous Payroll Specialist to manage full-cycle payroll for our US and Canadian teams. You will ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, compliance with statutory requirements, and support cross-functional teams on payroll-related matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process US payroll using Workday, including regular, ad-hoc, and off-cycle payrolls.
- Audit timesheets, pay changes, terminations, bonuses, commissions, retroactive pay, and deductions for accuracy.
- Process terminations, final paychecks, severance, and involuntary deductions (e.g., wage garnishments).
- Manage Canada payroll using Activpayroll.
- Support payroll audits, tax reporting, 401k, and statutory compliance.
- Process employee equity transactions and related tax withholdings (NSO, ISO).
- Respond to verification of employment requests.
- Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Finance, Accounting, and external vendors via Slack and email.
- Perform other payroll duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Workday Payroll & HCM modules.
- Experience processing full-cycle, multi-state US payroll.
- Proficient in ADP SmartCompliance.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP), Gmail, Google Docs, Slack.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with third-party payroll vendors (e.g., Activpayroll) and Canada payroll.
- CPP certification.
- Experience in high-growth B2B SaaS or public company exposure (SOX controls).
