YAP MEDIA NYC is hiring a YouTube Thumbnail Designer to create high-impact, visually compelling thumbnails across our podcast channels. In this role, you will be responsible solely for designing thumbnails that capture attention, align with each show's brand, and support strong click-through performance.

In just two years, YAP Media has become one of the top networks for business and self-development podcasts, securing sponsorship deals with major brands like Airbnb, LinkedIn, Shopify, the International Olympic Committee, and more. As our network continues to scale, thumbnail quality plays a critical role in how our content performs on YouTube.

This is a highly creative execution role. You will collaborate closely with our Growth and Content teams, but your core responsibility will be producing exceptional thumbnail designs that stop the scroll and visually communicate the episode's hook.

For the right person, this could be a strong long-term opportunity within a fast-growing digital media company. As the network scales, there will be opportunities to take on additional creative ownership and contribute to larger visual initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Thumbnail Design. Design engaging, high-performing thumbnails for multiple YouTube podcast channels. Create visually compelling compositions that attract attention in crowded feeds while maintaining clarity and brand consistency.
• Brand Alignment. Ensure thumbnails reflect each show's tone, audience, and positioning. Adapt design style appropriately across different creators and niches while maintaining overall quality standards.
• Creative Execution. Translate episode topics, hooks, and creative briefs into strong visual concepts. Select impactful imagery, typography, colors, and layouts that enhance viewer curiosity.
• Design Iteration. Produce multiple thumbnail variations when requested. Quickly implement feedback from the Growth or Content teams to refine visuals and improve clarity.
• Asset Management. Maintain organized design files and templates for efficient production. Ensure consistent formatting, sizing, and export quality across all uploads.
• Collaboration. Work closely with editors and content leads to ensure thumbnails align with episode themes, guest positioning, and visual direction.

• Deliver high-quality thumbnail designs for all assigned uploads on schedule.
• Produce visually compelling thumbnails that align with each show's brand identity and creative direction.
• Consistently meet internal quality standards for clarity, composition, and readability across devices (desktop and mobile).
• Successfully implement feedback and revisions in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing YouTube thumbnails.
• Strong design skills using Adobe Photoshop, Canva, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of composition, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy.
• Ability to create clean, bold, scroll-stopping designs optimized for small-screen viewing.
• Detail-oriented and able to follow brand guidelines precisely.
• Able to manage multiple design requests and meet deadlines consistently.
• Creative, adaptable, and comfortable working across different show styles and niches.
• Familiarity with podcast, creator, or digital media content is a plus.
• Available to work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.
