Role Overview
The Senior Auditor leads the execution of audit engagements and supervises audit associates in delivering high-quality financial statement audits for clients across industries. The role is responsible for planning audit procedures, reviewing working papers, assessing risks and internal controls, and ensuring compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS) and auditing standards. The Senior Auditor serves as a primary day-to-day contact for clients and supports managers in engagement delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Planning & Execution
- Lead audit fieldwork for assigned engagements
- Perform risk assessment and determine audit approach
- Design and execute substantive and control testing procedures
- Review audit documentation and working papers prepared by associates
- Ensure audits are completed within timeline and budget
Financial Reporting & Technical Review
- Review financial statements for compliance with PFRS/IFRS
- Evaluate complex accounting areas (revenue, estimates, provisions, etc.)
- Resolve audit issues and propose adjustments
- Assist in preparation of audit opinions and reports
Internal Controls & Risk Assessment
- Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of internal controls
- Lead walkthroughs and control testing
- Identify deficiencies and recommend improvements
Client Engagement & Coordination
- Act as primary contact for client finance teams during fieldwork
- Communicate audit findings and requests to management
- Coordinate deliverables and manage client expectations
- Support engagement manager in meetings and presentations
Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise and coach audit associates
- Review work and provide technical guidance
- Monitor team progress and workload allocation
- Support training and on-the-job development
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – required
Experience
- 3–5 years external audit experience (Big 4 or reputable audit firm)
- Experience leading audit sections or full engagements
- Exposure to multiple industries preferred
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of PFRS / IFRS and Philippine auditing standards
- Advanced understanding of accounting cycles and controls
- Financial statement analysis and risk assessment
- Audit documentation and review proficiency
