PRIMARY PURPOSE

The System Database Administrator (DBA) provides database support for multiple SQL Server clusters across the company services and customers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or other technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience administering SQL Server in a 24x7 production environment with a minimum of 3 years of experience in professional software design and development.

Job Specific Competencies & Skills:

• Experience with ETL to support analytics projects.
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and internals.
• Ability to solve complex systems and database environment issues.

• Development experience across full application life cycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages jobs, tools, and procedures used for database backup, security, and performance analysis.
• Designs and implements security models to support both local and international requirements.
• Designs and implements automated routines to facilitate the operational management of the database servers.
• Works with agile teams to proactively identify and address performance and operational improvements.
• Manages and maintains the backup and disaster recovery processes for SQL Server.
• Contributes and assists with application transition to IaaS and PaaS models (Azure).
• Assesses and implements newer data technologies, where warranted (e.g., Azure Data Lake, NoSQL).
• Performs proactive and reactive performance analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolution of database issues.
