- Maintaining and updating departmental policies and procedures as mandated by the Department of Health (DOH)
- Prepares the monthly schedules and the assigned staff during the absence of the staff for approval of the Deputy Director
- Ensures quality control guidelines are followed
- Handle client technical calls
- Supervises the maintenance of laboratory records and reports
- Prepares and submits a monthly report of the laboratory in a timely fashion.
- Oversees preventive maintenance procedures for laboratory equipment promptly to the Facilities Director
- Report any malfunction of equipment to the appropriate individual as soon as possible
- Directs and advises laboratory technologists in special test procedures
- Plans, coordinates, and supervises personnel activities
- Assists with the financial management of the department
- Develop and recommend potential solutions for laboratory issues or problems
- Represent the laboratory department in the monthly administrative staff meeting and all other meetings
- Prepare all necessary documents for the renewal of the license to operate and maintain the clinical laboratory
- Oversee and train medical technology staff/s and medical technology intern/s
- Develop and recommend policies, procedures, rules, and protocols for laboratory services and implement them as approved,
- Uphold the highest standards of quality and efficiency in line with hospital quality programs (e.g., Safecare, DOH, etc.) requirements
- Ensure a safe and secure work environment by strictly adhering to infection prevention and control protocols such as but not limited to handwashing, wearing of PPE, etc
- Commit to sustainable and eco-friendly work practices by minimizing waste, optimizing resource usage, and actively participating in initiatives that promote environmental stewardship
- Minimum Education Required: : Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from a qualified, recognized institution.
- Licenses/Certifications required: Current PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) license
- Minimum Experience Required: At least 2 years' experience as a Medical Technologist in a hospital environment preferred
- Strong analytical and documentation skills
- Strong communication skills, especially with those of different cultures
- Comfortable using medical technologies and lab equipment
- Broad knowledge of basic chemistry techniques
