    About the Role

    Our client is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to join their Technical Operations team. This role plays a critical part in designing, supporting, and maintaining robust systems infrastructure that powers mission-critical technologies. The Systems Engineer will work closely with clients to assess needs, recommend solutions, and implement scalable, secure, and high-performing systems. This position blends hands-on technical execution with client-facing collaboration and serves as an escalation point for complex system issues, outages, and infrastructure projects.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, support, and maintain hosted and on-premises systems infrastructure.
    • Lead technical discovery sessions with clients to assess infrastructure needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
    • Implement, configure, and manage Azure cloud environments, hybrid networking, and on-prem systems.
    • Serve as an escalation point for system outages, performance issues, and change management requests.
    • Build, modify, test, and document system configurations and deployments.
    • Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
    • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability and security.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-quality IT service and project outcomes.
    • Provide after-hours support when necessary.

    Competencies and Qualifications

    Must-Have

    • 2-year technical degree or equivalent hands-on work experience.
    • Experience troubleshooting Azure AD identity, MFA, and conditional access issues.
    • Strong experience with Azure cloud technologies, including:
    • Azure Virtual Networks
    • Network Security Groups (NSGs)
    • Azure Active Directory
    • VPN gateways and hybrid networking configurations
    • Solid background in on-premises infrastructure, including:
    • Hyper-V clusters
    • Windows Server roles
    • Integration with cloud services
    • Experience with SAN technologies (e.g., NetApp, Nimble, TruStorage).
    • Experience managing backup and disaster recovery solutions (e.g., Veeam, Barracuda, Azure Backup).
    • Strong client-facing communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
    • Prior experience in an enterprise or MSP (Managed Service Provider) environment.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on moderately complex projects.
    • Experience with Microsoft Modern Workplace tools:
    • Intune
    • Teams
    • Exchange Online
    • SharePoint Online

    Nice-to-Have

    • Mid-level networking expertise (VLANs, subnets, DHCP, firewall configuration).
    • Experience supporting remote workforce environments and VPN solutions.
    • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, PRTG, Auvik).
    • Relevant certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500, and Microsoft 365 certifications.
