    Job Description:

    The Editorial Support Agent provides technical support to users (authors, editors, reviewers) of a client's editorial production or publishing services and handles the end-to-end management of journal accounts; also to maintain activities within a journal's peer-review site (or system) from receipt of submissions to setting of final disposition.

    Responsibilities:

    • Corresponds in a professional tone, with complete and accurate information, and using correct English
    • Assists users (authors, editors, and reviewers) regarding the functionalities of the system designed for specific roles and helps resolve any technical difficulties that may be encountered
    • Declares assessed manuscript as first-level pass (by endorsing to editor for next processing) or returns it to submitting author (for manuscripts needing clarification or completion)
    • Assigns/reassigns verified correct manuscripts to appropriate journal editor
    • Validates the required information from the manuscript for completeness as well as duplicating submissions
    • Assesses the received manuscript by thorough reading and checks for the ff.: required formatting and declarations have been indicated as required; reviews the information cited for accuracy of ethical/biosafety/regulatory approvals with the client-provided data listing (applicable for Manuscript Assistant only)
    • Conducts research focusing on information that may be used in current and future requirements through searching a client subsystem such as a tracking tool to address a submission status-related query and clarifies data or queries ambiguities with clients (authors, editors, and reviewers)
    • Provides timely, consistent, and accurate responses to queries from authors, editors, and reviewers mostly by e-mail (or by phone as needed)
    • Navigates and monitors the system, checks submissions, and sets decisions (within the system), as appropriate
    • Removes manuscripts that have not been responded to in the prescribed timeline

    Requirements:

    • Atleast 2nd year college or graduate of any 4-year course
    • Must have very good English skills
    • Must be knowledgeable in MS Office applications and the Internet
    • Customer service background (e.g., from a call center), an advantage
    • Knowledgeable in publishing processes, a plus
    • Willing to work on a hybrid set-up (once/twice a month onsite)
    • Has the necessary tools for this role such as laptop or desktop
    • Willing to work on shifting schedules
