    Medical Records and Authorization Clerk, be 100% YOU with MicroSourcing

    A Medical Records and Authorization Clerk is expected to perform the following tasks:
    • The Medical Records Clerk is responsible for overall maintenance of Patient's charts and medical records.
    • Process requests for records from Insurance Companies, lawyer, physicians' offices, and patient requests (follow process when patient request records from the patient's chart).
    • Pull all charts for Chart Prep, special projects, as needed.
    • Monitor incoming patient authorization requests orders in boxes or by phone calls request and gather information needed to complete the pre-authorization order. You will evaluate the need for medical records for that authorization. Perform all insurance related assignments as instructed.
    • Make sure that the referral for the authorization has been done. Otherwise, the clerk needs to call the patient to make an appointment for the referral to be requested by the provider.
    • Run verification of the insurance to make the authorization.
    • Inform the department in charge of the insurance eligibility if there is an inactive insurance.
    • Need to go to each of the insurance websites to do the authorization. Need to be able to navigate the websites and apply critical thinking due to the constant change of the websites.
    • Print the authorization from the insurance's website, file it in the patient chart and fax it to the specialist office.
    • Need to process the authorization request until the end of the process (We will do the last training and approval).
