    Job Summary:

    The Data Governance Manager is accountable for designing, scaling and institutionalizing enterprise data governance across SM Retail's multi-platform, cross-BU environment.

    The role acts as de facto operational and managerial head of data governance, translating strategy into sustained enterprise behavior.

    Responsibilities:

    Governance Framework Execution

    • Operationalize the enterprise data governance framework approved by the Chief Data Officer
    • Maintain governance artifacts including policies, standards, procedures and guidelines
    • Support rollout of governance operating model across BU's

    Data Ownership & Stewardship Enablement

    • Support identification and onboarding of Data Owners and Data Stewards across domains (customer, product, sales, merchandising, etc)
    • Clarify roles, responsibilities and decision rights related to data

    Data Quality Management

    • Support definition of data quality rules, thresholds and issue management processes
    • Coordinate data quality issue logging, root cause analysis and remediation tracking

    Policy, Risk and Compliance Support

    • Support compliance with data privacy, security and regulatory requirements in coordination with Privacy and Security teams
    • Assist in data risk assessments, audits and control documentation

    Change Management and Adoption

    • Develop governance playbooks, templates, and simple guides for business users
    • Conduct governance onboarding and awareness sessions
    • Act as a trusted point of contract for governance-related questions from the business

    Reporting and Metrics

    • Track and report governance KPIs such as data quality trends, stewardship coverage and issue resolution
    • Prepare governance updates and materials for leadership and governance councils

    Qualifications:

    • At least 6 Years of solid experience in data governance, data management, analytics or related roles
    • Strong understanding of data concepts such as master data, reference data, data quality, metadata and lineage
    • Experience working in large, complex organizations, preferably retail, consumer or regulated environments
    • Ability to translate policy and standards into practical, business-friendly processes
    • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills
