- Management and review of the enhancement, development, regular back-testing, and calibration of all relevant market models for both existing and new markets.
- Manage and reviews the tasks for probabilistic modeling for relevant markets as required.
- Manage and reviews the regular back-testing and calibration of the market models, both fundamental and probabilistic models.
- Manage and reviews regularly updated short- to medium-term market price forecasts, with in-depth understanding and extensive analyses covering thermal plant generator configurations, plant availability schedules, deration, efficiency, fuel price forecast, and short-run marginal cost monitoring.
- Manage and reviews long term market outlook reports inclusive of market price forecast covering energy, ancillary services, and any other relevant market.
- Manage and reviews the development and maintenance of methodologies and tools necessary for forecasting the major price drivers to be used as assumptions to forecast market prices.
- Provide strategic directions in the overall conduct and ensure sustainability and business continuity within the Energy Economics team consistent with the strategic directions of the company and technical/technological trends in the industry.
- Market Analysis
- Statistical and Analytical Skills Proficiency in statistical and analytical methodologies.
- Optimization and Simulation Experience with Market Simulation Tools and Forecasting models such as SDDP, PLEXOS, Crystal Ball, and Monte Carlo simulations.
- Research and Regulatory Capacity Capacity to perform research on markets, plant technological advancements and costs, contracts, policies, rules, and regulations, including external relations and customer orientation.
- Market Operations Knowledge of Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) and Ancillary Services operations.
- Technical Literacy Computer literate and proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications, and presentation/graphics tools.
- Communication Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Domain Expertise Preference for candidates with substantial working knowledge of hydroelectric power plant operations, electric power system operation and analysis, and programming.
- Conceptual Integration Ability to understand and absorb broad business/regulatory issues, finance, and mathematical concepts.
- Operational Resilience Ability to execute under pressure and under tight time schedules.
- Modern Tools and Methodologies Knowledge in Google Suite applications, Lean Six Sigma, and Data Science.
- At least eight (8) years of substantial experience in the energy market with technical and leadership background, and experience in planning, forecasting and market analysis.
- Experience in leading and managing cross-functional groups, operating in matrix environments, and developing strategic relationships and networks (both internal and external)
- Experience in Project Management and leading change successfully
- Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or Applied Sciences
- Experience or knowledge in financial planning is preferred.
- Master's Degree in Engineering, Energy Economics or any relevant degree
- PhD in any relevant discipline is an advantage.
