    Position Summary

    We are seeking a Staff Engineer with deep hands-on expertise in architecting and delivering scalable, secure systems on AWS. This role blends high-level technical leadership with sustained hands-on delivery.

    You'll design event-driven serverless architectures, build AI-powered product features, and set the technical direction for how our platform evolves. The ideal candidate has a track record of shipping production systems at scale, and deep AWS fluency.

    This role sits within our global delivery team and will partner with engineering leads, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive architectural quality, unblock teams, and raise the engineering bar across the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    Architecture & Technical Direction

    • Design and evolve system architecture across serverless, event-driven, and API-first patterns on AWS
    • Architect resilient, cost-effective solutions leveraging Lambda, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Step Functions, API Gateway, and related services
    • Drive infrastructure-as-code standards using AWS CDK (TypeScript) and ensure consistent adoption across projects
    • Lead architectural reviews and contribute to technical roadmaps with clear trade-off analysis
    • Embed security best practices including authentication/authorization flows (Cognito, OAuth 2.0, JWT) and least-privilege IAM design

    Hands-On Delivery

    • Build and ship full-stack solutions using , C#/.NET, and React
    • Integrate applications with data services including DynamoDB, RDS, S3, Redshift, and external APIs
    • Integrate AI capabilities into products and internal tooling using Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenAI APIs, and similar services
    • Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate engineering velocity and improve code quality
    • Diagnose and resolve complex performance, integration, and security issues across distributed systems

    Continuous Improvement

    • Identify and address technical debt with pragmatic, incremental approaches
    • Raise engineering standards around modular architecture, documentation, and observability
    • Stay current with advancements in cloud-native development, generative AI, and modern engineering practices

    Collaboration & Mentorship

    • Mentor and support senior and mid-level engineers through pairing, code review, and knowledge sharing
    • Partner with onshore teams to translate business requirements into sound technical solutions
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies and communicate progress, risks, and technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences
    • Contribute to cross-functional planning, vendor evaluations, and strategic technical discussions

  • Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
    • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful time spent in senior or staff-level roles with architectural ownership
    • Deep, demonstrable AWS expertise — you should be able to walk through real-world architecture decisions across a broad range of AWS services with confidence
    • Proven track record of shipping production systems in distributed, serverless, or microservices environments
    • Experience in insurance, healthcare, or financial services is a plus

  • Skills & Competencies

    • Cloud & Infrastructure: Advanced knowledge of AWS (Lambda, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, Cognito, CloudFront, IAM). AWS certifications are a positive signal but not required — practical depth matters most.
    • Languages & Frameworks: Strong proficiency in and C#/.NET. Comfortable working in React for frontend delivery. .
    • Infrastructure-as-Code: Hands-on experience with AWS CDK (TypeScript preferred)
    • AI & Automation: Experience integrating AI/ML services into products (Bedrock, SageMaker, OpenAI APIs) and actively using AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development workflows
    • Architecture & Design: Demonstrated ability to design event-driven, API-first, and serverless architectures with attention to scalability, security, and cost optimization
    • CI/CD & Observability: Experience with modern CI/CD tooling and monitoring/alerting across distributed systems
    • Communication: Strong ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences and drive alignment across teams
