KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Check the cleanliness of the Teppanyaki Restaurant before the start of each shift.
Responsible for the overall supervision and quality control of all food produced in the Teppanyaki concept. He must also be able to perform a real show, creating an amazing dining Experience.
Check the temperature and condition of materials and refrigerator,s and discard any potentially hazardous food.
Must verify the food requisition and food cost targets. Apply food costs, quality, and portion control. Minimize food spoilage.
Order all ingredients from the F&B Store, ensuring that no partly used item is returned to the storeroom.
Investigate complaints concerning the quality, taste, smell, and appearance of any item rejected by the Guest or waiter and advise the Executive Chef of the causes.
Attend all sanitation briefings and meetings with the Executive Chef to review menus and explain any changes.
Ensure all personnel in the Station comply with MSC Sanitation Standards relating to food safety.
QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience) Your Journey So Far
- Proven experience as a Chef de Partie Teppanyaki or in a similar role on board a cruise ship or in a high-volume Teppanyaki restaurant.
- Strong ability to perform live cooking demonstrations with confidence, ensuring an engaging and interactive experience for guests.
- Expertise in preparing a variety of sushi dishes and Japanese cuisine, showcasing technical precision and artistic presentation.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety, hygiene regulations, and allergen management in compliance with international standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with guests and colleagues.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining consistency and quality.
Your Essentials
- Culinary degree or relevant professional certifications in Japanese cuisine or Teppanyaki cooking.
- Fluency in English (oral and written) to ensure smooth communication with guests and team members.
- Demonstrated experience in the same position or a similar one on board a cruise ship or in a high-end hospitality setting.
- Strong teamwork skills and adaptability to work effectively in an international, multicultural environment.
- Commitment to delivering outstanding guest service and maintaining high culinary standards.
- Passion for performance-based cooking, with a flair for engaging guests and creating memorable dining experiences.
