Role Overview
The Capability Development Manager is responsible for leading the organization's capability agenda by defining competency frameworks, using data-driven insights to anticipate future skill requirements, and orchestrating end-to-end development strategies that strengthen managerial capabilities and embed commercial excellence into business transformation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Capability Strategy and Planning
• Design Capability Framework - Define the skills, behaviors, and competencies required for each General Trade Frontliners role.
• Develop Capability Roadmap - Create a multi-year capability development plan aligned with business objectives.
• Design and Create Assessment Methods
o Knowledge Tests (quizzes, case studies)
o Skill Simulations (role plays, practical exercises)
o Behavioral Assessments (line manager feedback, self-assessments)
• Lead Gap Analysis & Needs Assessment - Conduct assessments to identify current vs. desired capability levels.
• Facilitate Stakeholders Alignment -Collaborate with leadership and functional heads to ensure buy-in and prioritization.
2. Learning Solutions Design and Development
• Design Learning / Training Curriculum - Develop structured learning paths for different roles (e.g., competency-based, advanced skills).
• Curate Learning Resources - Build tailored learning materials to meet the specific needs of different roles, business objectives, and learning styles
• Integrate Best Practices - Incorporate industry benchmarks, adult learning principles, and digital
learning trends.
• Manage Vendors - Source and manage external training providers when needed.
• Plan Annual & Quarterly Training Schedule– Create Training calendar o organize and schedule capability-building programs in a structured, timely manner for maximum participation and impact
3. Execution & Enablement
• Execute Trainings - Facilitate sessions or coordinate trainers for virtual/in-person programs.
• Deploy Capability Solutions - Implement tools like LMS, coaching programs, and on-the-job learning initiatives.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement and best-practice sharing, through quarterly connects, workshops, and curated knowledge exchanges.
• Facilitate Measurement & Evaluation -Track effectiveness using KPIs (e.g., skill improvement,
business impact).
• Drive Continuous Improvement - Gather feedback and iterate on programs for relevance and impact.
4. Change Management and Communication
• Develop a Communication Plan -Create clear messaging on the purpose, benefits, and impact of
capability programs.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy- Conduct briefing sessions and provide toolkits for managers to cascade information.
• Monitor Adoption & Feedback - Gather feedback through surveys, focus groups, and pulse checks to adjust communication strategies.
Qualifications
• Preferably a Bachelor's degree in a Business-related discipline
• At least 5 years' work experience in Capability Development within the FMCG or Food & Beverages industry
• Strong commercial background with proven business acumen
• Expertise in Design Thinking, Stakeholder Management, and Change Management
• Ability to drive organizational capability initiatives and deliver measurable impact
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across diverse teams
