    Operations Engineer

    Your role & work environment:

    • We are seeking an Operations Engineer to join one of the ING Sophis squads in charge of delivering, integrating, and maintaining custom solutions for Finastra's Financial Markets Sophis package. Sophis is a Windows and Oracle based application utilized for trading, operations, and risk management of equity and commodity derivative products.
    • You will be located in Manila, collaborating with a versatile squad in Brussels, Belgium, comprised of both Dev and Ops Engineers. Your primary responsibility will involve application support for Sophis and in-house processes developed by the ING Sophis team. Additionally, you will be the initial point of contact for end-users in case of any functional or technical issues. Your support duties will encompass ITIL service management facets like incident, problem, and change management.
    • In times of low activity, you will use the agile methodology to handle project-based backlog stories based on priorities set by our product owners (PO).
    • Moreover, you will function as a reliability engineer, enabling others to efficiently maintain the application. Your contributions will aid in developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and actively monitoring all Sophis processes. You will provide feedback to enhance the stability, performance, and recoverability of Sophis components.

    Your key responsibilities:

    • Application support: Undertaking shifts covering Brussels out-of-office hours, troubleshooting alerts to ensure timely process completion within SLA using best ITIL practices.
    • End-user support: Directly assisting internal end-users with their service requests.
    • Governance: Maintaining SOx and GDPR compliance for the critical application, actively participating in change and release management.
    • Automation: Focusing on automation, collaborating with the Sophis Platform squad to achieve full continuous delivery. Implementing good scripting practices for automating IT Ops tasks using modern tools.

    Skillset:

    • Bachelor or Master degree in computer science or related with a strong IT background.
    • Extensive application support experience (5+ years) preferably in the banking sector.
    • Proficiency in ITIL and SQL programming.
    • Familiarity with Windows platform and applications.
    • Experience in scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, VBA, Python.
    • Previous exposure to Finastra's Sophis is advantageous.
    • Comfortable with Scrum or Agile methodologies.
    • Knowledge of continuous delivery tools such as Azure DevOps.
    • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
